Diver Article Text: Buffalo, Thursday October 16, 1851, A shocking occurence happened yesterday on the Buffalo and rochester railroad in Lancaster, about 13 miles from this city. The engineer of the express train due here at 9:00 a.m. soon after leaving the town line station, saw a man ahead on the track, coming towards the train, who evidently as if he wished to reach a favorable place to turn off the track; failing in this, he stepped aside, but unfortunately, too late, the end of the bumper of the locomotive struck him in the side, breaking several ribs and killing him instantly. Upon stopping the train, it proved to be Mr Pardon PECKMAN, a revolutionary soldier and pensioner, a highly esteemed citizen, aged 88 years, the oldest inhabitant in the town and on of the first settlers in the county. Mr. PECKMAN was born in Rhode Island, and resided afterwards in Bethel Vermont; from there he emigratd to Western New York in the year 1808. *********************** Yesterday afternoon, Joseph A.
