They were there for the funeral of one of thier body,. An old respected resident of this city Captain Dieterich, of East Broadway. The remains were taken from his resident to saint Paul's Church and buried with the usual military honors. Capt Dieterich was a descent of the Old Knickerbocker stock, and at an early age enlisted in the regiment of general Pike. He was present at the battles of Lundy's Lane, Chippewa, the Frontiers, and others. After receiving his discharge he went into business in this city where he has reamined since. *********************************** Sunday afternoon, December 7, 1851, a male child 20 months old named Wm. Henry Powell residieng with his parents at 42 Staton Street was playing near a front window, lost his balance fell tot he floor, producing a concussion and death. **************************************** Inquest held on Dec 8, 1851 at 10 Stanton Street on Clark Craig who died very suddenly at 5:00 a.m. while in is bed. Death was disease of the heart. Clark Craig was born in Ireland, age 29, and left a wife and six small children quite destitute of means of support. The acting coroner and jurors sympathized witththe poor family and at once raised a sum of money, ufficient to defray the funeral expenses and relieve their imediate wants. *************************** A few days ago Cornelius Sullivan was arrsted by the 19th ward Police for skinning a horse in the middle of a busy street. Sullivan was sentenced to six months imprisonment at Blackwells Island. **************************************** On Saturday nite Mr Wm T. Porter hada diamond pin stolen. Porter is the editor of the Spirit of the Times. *********************************** Sunday last evening Sergeant Hervey of the Third Patrol District and officer Ellis, of Philadelphia, Captured a desperate convict, in West Broadway, named William Francis, who was consigned to 14 years of hard labor in Harrisburg State Prison for the crime of arson. He remained ther for two years and escaped.
