It will be conducted by Fathers KREIDT and FEEHAN of Niagara. In the Leary Memorial Chapel, within the grounds of Bellevue Hospital, there will be rosary, sermon and benediction every Wednesday evening for the inmates of the institution and Mass and sermon every Sunday morning at 8. - - - - - - - The promoters of the Sacred Heart League of St. Monica’s Church held a reception last week at the school hall, 416 East 80th St. Fathers DOUGHERTY, CUNIFF, and TOLE were among those who attended, the latter being the league’s spiritual director. The officers of the league are as follows: Miss Mamie DONOVAN, President; Mrs. PURCELL, Vice President; Mrs. McGEE, Treasurer; Miss J. BOLIN, Recording Secretary; Miss K. DUFFY, Corresponding Secretary. - - - - - - - The second meeting of the Guild of Catholic Authors was held in Tuxedo. The programme included an original poem by the Rev. Henry O’KEEFE, a description of the literary work of the novelist Joshua HUNTINGTON, experiences in writing stories for the young, by Marion J. BRUNOWE, and an address from the editor of The Penny Magazine, T. C. QUINN. The exercises were concluded with discussions of the two questions: ‘Do Catholic books receive competent and helpful reviews from Catholic journals?” and “Should the art of poetry be more thoroughly cultivated?” - - - - - - - The Alumnae Association of Mount St. Vincent Academy held its midwinter tea Feb. 11 at the institution on the Hudson. There they were met by the honorary president, the Rev. Mother Mary Rose, and the reception committee, composed of the following: Miss Victoria C. OLWELL, Mrs. George Cordon BYRON, Miss Anna A. DUNPHY, Mrs. Theodore A. MADDEN, Mrs. Dr. O’NEILL, Miss Regina SCHMITZ, Mrs. Henry KAVANAGH, Mrs. D. HAGGERTY and Mrs. J. H. HAGGERGY. After the reception the association was called for a business meeting in the Senior Hall. Reports of the Manhattan chapter of the Seton Guild were ready by the regent, Mrs. A. SEMAN. The work of the Brooklyn chapter of this guild was presented by the regent, Mrs. Theodore A. MADDEN, and the reports were most creditable. - - - - - - - The Knights of Columbus at their recent State Convention held in brooklyn elected the following officers: State Deputy, Francis A. McCLUSKEY, of Brooklyn; State Treasurer, Dr. CONWAY of Auburn; State Warden, Charles A. WARD of Manhattan; State Secretary, J. CONNELL of Manhattan; State Chaplain, Daniel CUNNION. Delegates to the national Council, which meets at New Haven next month were chosen as follows, Charles A. WEBBER of Brooklyn; John A. WARD of Manhattan; John T. NORTON of Troy; T. H. QUINN of Queens; John W. HOGAN of Syracuse; P. H. DUNN of Manhattan; W. J. MACK of Syracuse; and J. W. GAVIN of Buffalo. The State Deputy appointed Messrs BENNETT of Brooklyn, LUCEY of Ogdensburg, and SHEEHAN of Elmira as a committee to fill vacancies. Manhattan was selected as the next meeting place. - - - - - - - The Literary Society of St. Francis Xavier’s Church in West 16th Street has elected the following officers for the ensuing year: William L. BARRY, L.L. B., President; Joseph RUSTLAND, Vice President; Bernard J. EGAN, Secretary; James A. LAMB, editor; J. D. GAGAN, Critic; Francis O’KANE, Curator; Richard J. MADDEN, Librarian; Gerald DONNELLY, Treasurer. The society was organized on Feb. 13, 1871, and the 28th anniversary of its founding was celebrated by a banquet at Zangheri’s, 22nd Street and Broadway.
