    1. [NY-OCGS] Welcome Back!
    2. Hello, folks! The Orleans County Genealogical Society still holds monthly meetings "Second Sundays at Seven" P.M., that is, at the Hoag Library, 134 Main St., Albion, NY 14411       The meetings are free of charge and visitors are welcome.  Visit our web site at www.OrleansCountyGenealogicalSociety.org for more information and I'll try to remember to post meeting information on this list now that we are back up!   Additionally, I hold Family Tree Fridays at the same library on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month.  Also free, we welcome people just flirting with working on their family trees as well as the advanced genealogist.   All we ask is that attendees are courteous and attentive.  Of necessity, with people at different levels of study we need to be kind and patient for the sake of others (and the instructors!)   Family history IS an exciting subject and we want everyone to have their chance to speak- but let the moderator guide the interaction, please.   The next Family Tree Friday meeting is April 6th, 2018 at 1 p.m. Folks working the desk can direct you to which room we will be in.  Marianne will be presenting information to help us understand our DNA test results!  She does a great job- you don't want to miss this presentation!   Sunday, April 8th, 2018 our special guest speaker will be local author, Melissa Olstrom.  Melissa will share with us her research methods for developing characters in her newly released historically accurate fiction, The Beloved Wild.  Melissa is an award winning educator at the Albion Campus, GCC, and she was inspired by her knowledge of the settlers of Orleans County, NY     Again, the meeting is free and open to the public.  You will want to bring along "book money, though!"   Best to all, Hollis

    3. Sunday, January 10th, 2016 at 7 p.m. we will host our first meeting at the HOAG library, on Main Street, Albion, NY Please try to arrive between 6:45 and 7:00 as we must have a doorman to let people in. We will have the use of six lap top computers, so bring along any "brick wall" you may have and perhaps we can find a way to help you break that down. Our hope is to be able to offer more assistance with online materials and offer some workshops in this new meeting place. If you have suggestions for workshops, please share them. Also, if you have an area of expertise, please share that with us. We are excited about this new opportunity and hope to see you this coming Sunday at the HOAG library! Please help spread the word!
