Hi: I am trying to find proof that my gr-grandfather inlisted in the Civil War in New York. Does NY-Military reach back to the Civil War? I found his name on a roster that did not give date-place-particulars and I am trying to piece it all together. His name was not always spelled the same, but the information I have is the name I am using. His birth name was Cleophas THERRIEN and he was from the area of Montreal, Canada.
