Hi all An ancestor was a serving officer in the New York Province Regiments from circa 1754-1762/3 when presumably he would have been 'demobbed'. He married in 1759 in New York, and would have then been travelling with his regiment to the various locations in the War. Is there a record of the progress of the War itself which would give likely places where he would have been at any given moment. Would his new wife have travelled with him, or would she have been parked in New York, or Orange County where her parents lived, for the duration. Did these regiments move with a lod of hangers-on and camp followers bringing up the rear? Was it a static war, or a series of skirmishes and guerilla tactics. It's a long time since I read "The Last of the Mohicans" which would, I guess be excellent background material. I would appreciate your thoughts.
