I am searching for information on my great grandfather, Robert McWilliam. Robert MCWILLIAM was born 13 Sept 1861 and died 5 May 1945 in Garden City Long Island. I have a certificate that identifies him as a First Lieutenant, in the 7th Reg., Infantry, New York National Guard. He received a 10 year award, 4th class award dated 30 Sept 1895 and its' number is #636. I believe the Governor/ commander-in-Chief was Levi P. Morton. I am trying to locate family members and anything about his time in the National Guard, jobs promotions, campaigns fought. I visited the 7th Reg.
