My step grandfather Charles Anderson from what my mom said was a very famous Indian fighter and fought in the Indian War. He led the parade ( she lived in Whitestone, L.I. ) every year she said on his horse ( what parade? ). And when he died his horse rode with no rider and his casket was pulled on a caisson. It was all very sad she said. What I can't understand is he was born about 1862 and the height of the Indian Wars was 1869-1878. Wounded Knee was 1890 and called "The last great battle of the Indian Wars ". What was he 16 years old near the end? O.K. about 28 years old by Wounded Knee. I don't know his birth date and war dates don't seem right. Is there any place I could find information on who was in the Indian War? ( Names/List ) thanks June :-)
