I am researching my gg-grandfather Thomas H. Hamilton, 1st Sgt., G/38th NYS Vol Inf. who fought was wounded and captured and subsequently paroled during First Bull Run/Manassas. Any information would be appreciated regarding his unit in this first battle of the Civil War as well as the procedures for parole of prisoners in 1861.
