I am looking for CAPT. ALEXANDER THOMAS , b.1743 d. 1812, from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He married URSILLA OLDRIDGE also from Portsmouth. He served under Col. Topham. He was stationed in Albany,NY where he patrolled the Hudson River above Albany. It is said that the Hessians occupied his home in Portsmouth,RI and allowed his wife and children to use one room.I am wondering if his home still stands in Portsmouth and if there are any portraits of him and his family anywhere. I have a little history on Alexander, but nothing on Ursilla Oldridge. Also when and where did he die and where is he buried. The history I have says that he loaned money for the war and when Daniel Webster tried to repay him there wasn't enogh money so he gave THOMAS his home in Marshfield,Mass. Is this house still standing ? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
