    1. [NY-LongIsland] HEWLETT/BAKER families on Long Island
    2. I am searching for these people: Hannah HEWLETT Brearley, b. January 10, 1787, was the daughter of Emery Hewlett and Mary Baker. The Bakers and Hewletts were from Long Island, New York. Joseph Brearley (her son) heard his mother tell of cooking clams in the sands on the seacoast when she was a girl. When a young woman, Hannah's family moved from Long Island to Lansing to Genoa near the east shore of Cayuga Lake. Soon after the War of 1812 with her father and his family, Hannah moved to Wayne Co. 3 miles N.W. of Lyons village (then quite a new country). (These notes were compiled by Lina Brearley Richardson from genealogical records made by her grandfather, Joseph Brearley.) Correspondence with John Hewlett, Sr. I am John A. Hewlett from South Setauket, L.I., NY. I have some information for you. Hannah was (probably the 2nd) one of 9 children of Emery Hewlett b. 8/25/1754 who moved to Cayuga Co. upstate NY. He married Mary Ann (Molly) Baker, daughter of Samuel Baker 1732-1781 m. 1758 Mary Ann Palmer 1739-1809. I have never had even the names of any except their 4th child Samuel 1791-1875, so I was thrilled to see your posting. Do you have any information at all on Hannah's siblings? Emery was the 3rd of 4 children of George Hewlett who lived probably at Great Neck L.I.,d. 1778 and his wife Hannah Emory. (Ihave no explanation for the difference in spelling) George was the first child of George Hewlett c.1682-1770 and Hannah Smith. George was the first child of George Hewlett 1634-1722 who married 5/14/1680 at Gravesend, L.I. Mary Bayles 1654-1733. It is believed that George was the youngest of 4 children of Louis Hulet and ___ Marwyn of Buckinghamshire, England. I would appreciate any Hewlett info yopu can supply and any sources to which you can point me. John Are there any other folks on this list related to these families? If so, what are your sources for information? Jim Otton Lakewood , Colorado
