Hi List Members I recently joined the list and posted my interests, but I haven't seen it, so I thought I should post again. My 6xg. grandfather Benjamin WIGGINS was born in 1702. (I think his father may have also been a Benjamin.) He died on 17 Sept 1776 in Jamaica, Long Island, New York, and was buried in Grace Church Cemetery. He married Rachael __. Their children were - Stephen b. 20 Feb 1725, Jamaica, LI; d. 1782 New Britten, NY Elizabeth b. 3 Mar 1727, Jamaica, LI Charity b. 17 July 1730, Jamaica, LI Jacob b. ?, Newburg, NY John b. 1753, Newburg, NY; d. 1815 Benjamin b. ?, Newburg, NY Samuel b. 1785, Newburg, NY; d. 1821 Stephen married Elizabeth FOWLER, daughter of Samuel FOWLER and Abigail DRAKE. Their children were Charlotte, Daniel, Isabella, Jacob F, John, Samuel and Stephen. They were Loyalists and fled to Saint John, New Brunswick. Samuel married Margaret LESTER, daughter of Mordecai LESTER, who had died in New York. His widow and children had fled to NB. Their children were Stephen, Charles, Gilbert Lester, Susan, Charlotte, Ann, Hannah and Richard. Stephen married Frances Ann PETERS on 26 Sept 1811 in Saint John, NB. Frances Ann was the daughter of Thomas Horsefield PETERS and Susannah Palmer. Thomas PETERS was also a Loyalist, and was born c 1749 on Long Island, NY. He was apparently taken prisoner in May 1776 and confined in Fort Montgomery. He was released and then again taken prisoner and confined at Philadelphia. He escaped and reached the British lines in New York in Feb 1777. Thomas H PETERS was the son of Samuel PETERS and Mary CARLE. If anyone has any information to help me fill in my huge gaps, or even better, if anyone is related to me, I would love to hear from them. Thanks Sue Hogan Duri, NSW, Australia
