My grandmother was born in Long Island City (LIC) in 1893. Her birth certificate was obtained from Queens County. Thanks to my Dad telling me the when "New York City" was listed as the birthplace back then....they meant Long Island City and that was Queens. I never would have figured that one out on my own for possibly YEARS. It's one of the few things my father was able to tell me about his family...and it sure was a "dilly"!
