In today's (Sunday, January 11, 2004) NEWSDAY, there's an article, "Patriot Graves" that reports that "Starting with his ancestors’ headstones, David Overton, the Brookhaven Town historian continues his quest to replace the weathered markers of Revolutionary War soldiers." "He began an inventory of all the Revolutionary War soldiers buried in the town's more than 100 cemeteries. He identified about 100 graves, most of which needed new stones because the originals were missing, damaged or nearly illegible."
