    2. Kim Hawkins Bonetti via
    3. I got this email today.  Not sure what to do now.  I've been using FTM since I started researching my family tree about 1998.  I know nothing else.  I like keeping track of my family on software on my computer.  I do sync my research to ancestry using their tree sync program, but I'll no longer be able to do that.  The only reason my tree is on ancestry is because of the sync feature on FTM.  I use ancestry for research, not to keep track of my tree.  Is it my understanding that Ancestry expects people to keep track of their research by entering their family info into Ancestry's family tree's?  Cause I won't do that.  I'll buy and use a different software before I do that.  Also, I'm assuming, if people don't use Ancestry to keep track of their research and no new names are added to Ancestry tree's then the DNA tests we paid 100 bucks for are now useless?  I'm very confused and not sure what to do next.  Kim Ancestry is proud to have made a significant investment this year to bring valuable new content and records to the Ancestry site. In 2015, we’ve made 220 million searchable historical records from Mexico available, more than 170 million pages from the largest collection of U.S. will and probate records, among others. We’ve also introduced new features such as Ancestry Academy and major advancements for AncestryDNA.We remain dedicated to helping people gain new levels of understanding about their lives, and who and what led to them, harnessing the information found in family trees, historical records and genetics. As a company, we’re also continually evaluating ways to focus our efforts to provide the most impact and best product experience for our users through our core offerings.True to this focus, we’ve taken a hard look at the declining desktop software market and the impact this has on being able to continue to provide product enhancements and support that our users need. With that, we’ve made the decision to stop selling Family Tree Maker as of December 31, 2015.Our subscription business and website, on the other hand, continue to grow and we are doubling down our efforts to make that experience even better for our Ancestry community.Ancestry will continue to support current owners of Family Tree Maker at least through January 1, 2017. 3. Bill Chamberlain, thank you for the information about the online newspaper resources for Suffolk County. I live in central Ohio but research family on Long Island. I went to the website you recommended to someone else but cannot open the articles I found. Do I have to pay for some kind of membership? I could not see where I could sign up. Thanks. 3. If you live outside of Suffolk County, do a Google search for "Suffolk Historic Newspapers", select "Suffolk Historic Newspapers\Live Library". (If you're in Suffolk County, you can access this from your library's website) Then select "Advanced Search - individual newspapers", and select the "Patchogue Advance". I entered only the surname. This will bring up a list of articles, including a death notice with the name, date and age you mentioned, and listing her residence as the hamlet of Rocky Point (which is in the Town of Brookhaven). A second article, which gives the details of her estate, may be quite useful for you.
