    1. [NY-IRISH] Ellis Island has totally screwed up their site with new changes

    3. I just tried to sign in to review an immigration file I had found before as one of the names on that register has popped up in the family and I wanted to review the manifest. !st I was unable to sign in under my old acct info. I sent a request for my PW but by then it had assigned me a new acct...I JUST finally got someone to return my call (212-561-4588) and spoke to someone who is involved in all the website changes and they are anxious to hear about issues people are having. In my mind they have made the site virtually unusable. What they have done is made it so that people can no longer "snip" and thus copy document info. I explained to them that I figured that was the reason for the change but that at their prices, no one is going to buy documents, especially when they cannot get a good enough look at the document to see if it is their own people. Please EVERYONE go to the site, and then let them know how you feel about these new changes. BTW links to these documents from familysearch.org no longer work either. I let them know that and also tried to get a message through to familysearch.org as well. I am very irritated at this as in my mind, they have made the site so difficult to get around and made it so difficult to examine the documents as to have rendered the website virtually useless. PLEASE let them know what you don't like about the new site as they are still in BETA and can make changes, but they cannot make changes if they don't know what the complaints are...so please contact them so they can get this site better designed for us, the customers. Please pass this on to any other lists you belong to Joyce -- Researching Stephenson/Stevenson, Fleury, Heald, Lindelof, Young, Rubino, Cammarota, Mandracchia, Vaiarelli, Mulhern, Johnson, Haight, Erickson, Munson, Northrup, Sears, Camp, Gunn, Allen, Gorham, Plumb, Beard, Rogers, Eliot, Briscoe, Bradley, Mix, Wilmot, Pritchard, Mew, Stone, Sparke, Bayley, Bailey, Redfield, Redfin, Howland, Tilley, Sturgis, Hinckley, Kirk, Norton, Gerard, and many more...

    3. I have drafted a letter to send to the Board of Directors. If anyone wants a copy just email me OFFLIST at my regular email address which is [email protected] and I will send you a copy. Because it is quite long I do not want to post it here. That way you can just copy and paste into a letter and put your own return address on the letter. I know from previous experience that if people are given a letter to send, they are more likely to send it. PLEASE use Ellis Island Letter in the subject of your email so i do not accidentally delete it. I hope if we all join together to show them their folly they will do something to make the site more usable again. In my opinion they threw their money away on this "new and improved" site which is not improved at all.
