Back in January, I ordered my father's and grandfather's military records. I got my dad's with maybe 10 days, followed by a packet full of copies of all his medals and awards in June. I figured I wouldn't hear about my grandfather's, if I hadn't by now, but today I got an envelope with a letter and 2 copies each of documents with official raised seals, showing his service as a 17 year old in 1920, and as a 40 year old in 1943. The letter said his records had been lost in the 1973 fire, but they obtained these documents from an alternate source, and the seal declares them official for any reason I might need to do so. I would now like to get the records of his father, who was drafted near the end of WW1, and a different ggf who served in the civil war. I understand this is expensive, this far back! I'd still appreciate hearing from anyone who has done it. What forms did you use, etc? Thanks, Judi
