Hi Meghan, There is always the *possibility* of transcription errors when volunteers view handwritten records decades old then keyboard them into print, no matter how careful the reader is. When I go to the Municipal Archives with friends, and we view BMDs on microfilm, we consistently ask each other to view each other's microfilm images, to confirm what the handwritten c copy says. For example, there are times you want a child's BC but only if the parents are X and Y. That's one way to determine the right from wrong family certificate. Other than historical newspaper sites, or visuals of original documents online, most of what you read online are transcriptions. IGG seems to have 2 records with the same certificate number. The actual person that belongs to the certificate number was not my ancestor.
