Yes, I know these this list does not cover Prince Edward Island but I need help. My daughter in law's ancestor shows up on England censuses as being born on Prince Edward Island. I have checked Ancestry and Family Search records but didn't find much help. Any suggestions? I am looking for a birth in 1819. Would like to find his parents and where they were from, he is a Maloney, kinda think his father is from Ireland?? Any help will certainly be appreciated. Suggestions will also be appreciated. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
Earliest records start at 1832 altho Family search shows it holds films of earlier baptisms.. not sure what denomination. Maybe obtain birth cert from UK..I had ancestor b 1813 Scotland and did get his records. I already see that there are Maloney and Malone genealogies on PEI albeit they start about 1850.... Also surname could be Mahoney Malone Maloney? Hi Pat. Is he Richard Maloney? He's the only one I can find in the 1861 census for England who's born in PEI. Besides his wife, Mary J. and 4 children, he has a sister living with him who is 5 years younger, but born in England. So whatever was going on with his parents, they don't seem to stay very long in PEI. The PEI records are scarce. The only birth I could find for that time period is for a James Maloney. I tried tracing the sister, indexed as Anne Retallick, but can't find anything on her either. Quite a puzzle. I'll keep looking.
