James BAXTER was born in Northern Ireland about 1800. He married Jane WIER, born 1803, also from Northern Ireland, about 1827 in Ireland. Their first two children, Sarah, born 1828 and James, born 1830 were born in Northern Ireland. Son David, born 1831, and other children were born in Lisbon, New York. This indicates they emmigrated between 1830 and 1831. The Baxters came to New York via Canada into Ogdensburg. They lived in Lisbon and James Sr. died in the Poor House in Lisbon in 1887. I have no record of Jane's death. Their daughter, Sarah, born 1828 in Northern Ireland, married William Fields, born 1829 in Lisbon. Sarah Baxter and William Fields had three children, James b 07 Nov 1845; Mary, b 08 Dec 1855; and John, b 10 Sept 1858 all born in Lisbon: The family later moved to St. Clair, McPherson, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Information needed: 1. Death date of Jane Wier-Baxter 2. Marriage record of William Fields and Sarah Baxter 3. Actual birth date of James Fields, son of William and Sarah - information I have says he was b 07 Nov 1845 (birth year questionable) I have some genealogy info from the St. Lawrence Co. Historical Association Archives -* no citatations*. Other children of James and Jane for which I have no information are: John Baxter; Robert Baxter; Isabella Baxter; Samuel Baxter; and Thomas George Baxter. I also have information that son, David, served in the Civil War. To complicate matters, I think James may have had a *brother* who also came to Lisbon or thereabouts at about the same time, was married and had children. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me. Janet Magnuson
