Historical tour planned at St. Augustine Cemetery The Ossining Historical Society Museum is planning a walking tour of St. Augustine Cemetery, 75 Hawkes Avenue on Saturday, April 26 [2014] at 2p.m. Believed to be one of the oldest Catholic cemeteries in Westchester County, it is the final resting place of local veterans, aqueduct and railroad workers as well as Sing Sing prisoners. Multiple speakers that day will be in attendance. There is no need to RSVP and the tour is free, however a $10. donation would be greatly appreciated. In case of extreme weather, the tour will be held the next day (Sunday, the 27th) at 2pm. For more information contact Patricia Sacchi at [email protected] or the Ossining Historical Society Museum at [914] 941-0001. NOTE: The northwestern section of Westchester County is known for immigrant Irish laborers in the brickmaking business, as well as construction of the Croton Dam, just north of Ossining. Barb
