Stanley Here ------- NEW YORK, Nov. 7. – The steamer Teutonic, which arrived Wednesday night from Liverpool, had among her passengers Henry M. Stanley and Mrs. Stanley, and Lieut. Jeppson, one of Mr. Stanley’s companions on his trip to Africa. The Teutonic had a rough passaged and was slightly damaged. During the voyage Mr. Stanley was slightly ill, but is now recovering. ------ Charles Ruxton, the well-known Wall Street man, died Wednesday of a surgical operation. ------- F. C. O’Reilly, of New York, who bought Hanover at the Dwyer sale, for $15,000, sold the horse to Milton Young for $20,000. ------- Thomas Power O’Connor, M. P., president of the Irish National League, of Great Britain, arrived at New York by the steamer City of New York ------- Francis M. Scott, the defeated candidate for mayor on the fusion ticket in New York, speaking of the election, attributed his defeat to the anti-McKinley feeling. ================ Page 1, Column 5 ================= Minister Lincoln At New York ------- NEW YORK, Nov. 7. – Minister to England Robert T. Lincoln* arrived here Wednesday afternoon on the steamer City of New York. He brought with him the remains of his son, Abraham. Mr. Lincoln** positively refused to discuss political matters. When told the result of the elections he merely said that he was sorry to hear that Massachusetts and the other states had gone Democratic. His stay in the United States will be brief. He was accompanied only by a valet.
