I WAS SURPRISED TOO! I THOUGHT THEY MIGHT SEND LIST OF HUSES HE WORKED OUT OF, ANY PROMOTIONS/MEDALS,ETC, BUT NOTHING ELSE BUT WHEN APPOINTED AND WHEN RETIRED, OH,YES HIS SALARY. I ALSO GOT A APPROX. AMOUNT OF HIS SALARY FROM ANCESTRY CENSUS OF 1940,WHICH KIND OF FIT, IT SAID $3000. FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR,EQUALS OUT TO THE AMOUNT HE RECEIVED IN '44-'66,$125.00 PER MONTH. HE ALSO REC'D A NAVY PENSION FOR DISABILITY (HERNIA WHILE PREFORMING HIS DUTY ABOARD SHIP)…..I DOUBT SNYONE COULD LIVE HIGH ON HOG BACK IN THOSE DAYS, ANY BETTER THAN NOW……HOWEVER, BACK IN THE '40s MANY PEOPLE THOUGHT YOU MUST BE RICH TO RETIRE…LOL. NEVER MIND HE HAD TO GET A "REAL" JOB JUST TO SUPPORT FAMILY. HE DID TRY TO RE-ENLIST IN NAVY SFTER RETIRING FROM PD, BUT HIS HALTH RECORD TURN HIM DOWN, HE HAD HEART ATTACK JUST BEFORE RETIRING FROM PD + THE HERNIA….. BUT HE DID BECOME A HOUSE DETECTIVE FOR SOME BIG HOTELS BACK THEN, SO HE MUST HAVE LIKED POLICE-WORK. MY SONS, ON THE OTHER HAND ARE BOTH FIRE DEP'T LT'S. ONE HERE IN FL, ONE IN NJ, JUST RETIRED., I WAS FOR 10 YEARS,ON A VOL.FD. MUST BE IN THE BLOOD, ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE "1830's"……AT LEAST ONE PERSON IN EACH GENRERATION SINCE THEN, I HAVE FOUND,SO FAR. 4 On Apr 3, 2014, at 1:24 PM, Kathleen Scarlett O'Hara Naylor <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Pat, > > I'm really surprised to hear that.
