The New York Times published in New York, NY 15 August 1880 GENERAL TELEGRAPH NEWS Immured in A Convent Forty-five Young women take the Black Veil at Baltimore Baltimore, Aug 14.-At the Convent of Notre Dame, at Govanstown, a few miles from this city, this morning 45 young ladies took the black veil. The interesting ceremonies were witnessed by an immense congregation. The cars leading to the convent, from an early hour until the ceremonies took place, were crowded with relatives and friends of the young women. Father NEITHEART, of New Orleans, delivered the address, after which the solemn mass of the Holy Ghost was celebrated. The usual ceremonies followed, after which the novices were invested with the black veil.
