    3. Hi Judi, If you don't have any luck with Brooklyn Historical, you can also try the Brooklyn Collection at the Brooklyn Public Library: http://www.bklynpubliclibrary.org/brooklyncollection. Also, have you searched the catalogs at the Brooklyn Historical Society, Brooklyn Public Library, New York Public Library, and New-York Historical Society? While they don't seem to have anything like employment records, there are a couple of titles that might interest you, including things like *Brooklyn's Guardians: a record of the faithful and heroic men who preserve the peace in the city of homes* by William E.S. Fales (1887) and the *Annual Report of the Department of Police and Excise of the City of Brooklyn* for years in the 1880s-1890s. I have no idea what, if anything, you might find to be of use in these, but you never know if something is going to list officers by name, or refer to other records that exist(ed), etc. to lead you in a promising direction.
