Hi, I'm new to the list and new to NYC research. I am researching my maternal great grandmother's family in Manhattan before some migrated to Philadelphia. They were the Buckley's. Daniel (b.1820 Ireland), Ann Keller Buckley (b.1830 Ireland), John (b. 1855 NYC), Daniel (b. 1856 NYC), Solomon F. (b. 1858 NYC), Ann (b. 1865 NYC) and Mary (b. 1870 NYC). I found a marriage record for Solomon and a possible one for John in the LDS search. How does one go about getting one from NY. Do you apply to the state or the city? Susan, you may already have this information but I'll send it anyway. There's one marriage listed in NYC for a Solomon Buckley. July 27, 1881, to Mary Humbert. Cert. # 4646. You would apply to NYC, not the state. You can find the form at the following link. http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/marriage.shtml They still list the cost as only $ 15.00. There are 26 John Buckleys listed, so that would be a problem for you. You could narrow it down if you know his wife's name. This info is found at www.italiangen.org Don't let the word 'Italian' mislead you...this site transcribes all NYC records, and they can always use volunteer transcribers and/or donations.
