    3. Barb, curiosity led me to look up the Directories and I found the following: the small case LT means Lower Town. UP would be Upper Town. There's an explanation for these designations in the 1847 Directory, images 9 & 10. It refers to the way the city of Quebec was divided. Other designations are SJ (St. John) & SR (St.Roch). I guess it would help people find the Street, using the map McLaughlin encloses at the beginning of the Directory. Pretty good idea.
