    3. Hi Mary Ann, There won't be a birth record in Ireland, as birth registrations did not begin until 1864. You may find a church record of his baptism, but first you'd have to know what parish he was from - that, or search all Clare parishes that have records dating back far enough. You can see which parishes have records on the John Grenham / Irish Times website -- see http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/sitemap.htm for sitemap to navigate through, or just check Grenham's TRACING YOUR IRISH ANCESTORS (maybe at your local library). Generally speaking, you don't want to jump to Irish research until you've found a more specific origin, or have exhausted all possible sources in the US without luck. Hope that helps.
