I am seeking a marriage of James CONNELL to Anne DORAN [mother Eliza or Ellen McCANN] circa 1827, and their deaths and possible cemeteries of burial. Their four children, James, Elizabeth, Anne, and Daniel emigrated to NYC in 1849, without parents. All of the children were baptized at St. Brigid's in Clogharinka/Clogherinkoe from 1828-1836. Thanks for my g-g grandfather's notation of his home townland, in the Emigrant Savings Bank Archives [NYC], I was able to trace my family and acquire nine Baptismal Certificates. What a first trip! It appears that Anne DORAN, lived in this area after her marriage, as did her father James DORAN, but there are no fitting CONNELLs in the Balyna archives. Many DORAN families live there now. "The Parish of Balyna includes Broadford, Cadamstown, Clogherinkoe, Johnstownbridge and their surrounding townlands," states the 33rd issue of the Parish Annual. Three Catholic churches are in this parish, St. Brigid's Church in Clogharinka, St. Mary's Church in Broadford, and St. Patrick's Church in Johnstownbridge. In Ireland, they refer to the church by the town name, not the church name. This area of Kildare is not far from Edenderry, which most folks can locate on all maps, in this Northern Kildare parish of 3.500 people. For further inquiries about Balyna Parish, their email address is: balynaparish@eircom.net. The lovely and helpful, Catherine Wynne, manages the parish office there.
