At the home page, click on Europe at the bottom, then at the very bottom, Ireland, Civil Registration Index. That will bring you directly to the index. The other way is to just do a search on the home page, and then select collection once the results display. You can select the Irish Civil Registration Index then. Hi, everybody. I am very excited because I wrote to the pastor of an old church in Kilfinane, Limerick and asked about obtaining a copy of the wedding record for my great-great-grandparents, who were married in 1838. He sent me a copy and it arrived today and I am moved to tears. It's in Latin, and I understand some of it but not all. FYI, the priest was Reverend John Bourke and the witnesses were Cornelius Flanagan and Joan Fitzgerald. Here's the Latin text. Some of it was hard to read so please pardon any spelling errors. "In matrimonio canonice conjuncti sunt a Rev. Bourke Mauritius Higgins & Catherine Flanagan coram Cornelio Flanagan Joanne Flyercate cum multis alies." I know this much: Maurice Higgins and Catherine Flanagan were joined in holy matrimony by Reverend J. Bourke, but what does the rest say? Gratias. Clare

Hi Clare, Coram means 'in the presence of' Cornelius Flanagan, Joanne Flyercate, with many others. Presumably, Cornelius and Joanne were the best man and maid (or matron) of honor, resp., or at least the witnesses of record who would have signed as such.
