This maybe the week of remembering .... But I think of my veteran ancestors everyday . One most of all was in the Civil War Thomas Henry Dennison of the 123rd CoF out of Washington county NY . I only found out about him 10 years ago . He died in 1884 at the Willard state Hospital, buried in a unmarked and unknown location in there cemetery. He was never acknowledged as a Civil War Vet from 1884 to 2000 When my mother and I took it upon ourselves to contact the VA and received a brass plack for him. Seeing no one knew where Thomas was at Willard . We had the plack put with his regiment out in the evergreen cemetery in Salem NY . At least we know now that every year he will have a flag by his name . thank U Tee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Connors" <nymets11@pacbell.net> To: "IRISH-AMERICAN" <Irish-American-L@rootsweb.com>; "ny irish" <ny-irish-l@rootsweb.com>; <New-England-Irish@rootsweb.com>; <Irish-In-UK-L@rootsweb.com>; <Can-Ontario-Irish-L@rootsweb.com>; <cornish-american-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 29, 2010 2:07 PM Subject: [NY-IRISH] A time to remember....George James Connors > This week in the United States, we take the time to remember our > veterans, those still alive, those of our many war dead and/or those > injured.
