    2. Michael Cavanagh was born in Cappoquin in 1822 and died in NY in 1900. He left Ireland in 1849 accompanied by Hugh Collender and Dan Mc Grath, having taken part in 1848 uprising. They along with others attacked the British Military barracks in Cappoquin. They were wanted men and were never able to return to Ireland. We have located the obituary exceptint the part published in the edition of 24 May 1890. We are unable to locate this particular edition. The Michael Cavanagh Society is currently publishing a collection of Cavanagh's works (about 360 pages)and all profits will go to the local national school in Cappoquin.
