Pat I think that my Irish in New York came from Northern Ireland in the early 1800's By 1860 David I and his family are in Mount Vernon a postal district in Eastchester of Westchester County. Margaret Young was his wife. She had a sister who married a linen merchant in NYC and they were in the same area later. I don't know if you have them in your files. I have been so busy with writing my book for the last year that I didn't even know the Rootsweb had gone bonkers . ONLY JOHN CAME TO THE USA AND IS MY GRANDFATHER,WHO CAME TO USA IN 1888. HE HAD A HARD TIME WITH GETTING WORK IN NYC, AND JOINED THE USA ARMY, FIRST SENT OUT WEST AND AFTER 3 YEARS BACK TO NYC…WHERE HE REJOINED THE ARMY AND VOLUNTEERED FOR TEDDY ROOSERVELT AND THE ROUGH RIDERS.( I WAS REALLY SURPRISED WITH THAT NEWS> HE MARRIED NORA MULCAHY/SULLIVAN A WIDOW APPROX.1900-1901 IN NYC. MY FATHER WAS THEIR ONLY LIVING CHILD, THO SHE HAD 3 OTHERS FROM HER FIRST MARRIAGE. I HAVE HAD NO "FAMILY" SINCE AGE 6 TO ASK QUESTIONS OF ANCESTORS.
