    3. Pat, Thanks very much for the info. I haven't searched it much but I can see right away that there's more whistlestops in New York State than I ever dreamed of. Didja ever hear the poem "The House With Nobody In It" by Joyce Kilmer? It sums up all those lonely old abandoned ramshackle houses left by the wayside, and it mentions Suffern. I shall pursue it with interest.
