Pat I am in need of tracking part of my maternal ancestry who came in the early 1800's to New York. The Young family (by the time I discovered this line Margaret (Fair) Young was a widow living with her daughter Sarah and husband Andrew Barr in Mount Vernon, Westchester County, NY. They were not Catholic but they also were not of a practicing faith if appears. My grandmother was the youngest granddaughter said that they were not members of any church. I suspect that they came from Northern Ireland but I have not proof at this time. I have found 2 of her married daughters in their individual Census 1870 and 1880 Margaret revealed born in Ireland and Sarah born in NYC. and if memory serves me correctly when they departed Ireland at least Margaret with her husband (first name is unknown) and one daughter also named Margaret. I don't know if there were other members of this family. They seem to have crossed over to England and shipped out to America before 1835. Margaret (FAIR) Young was born about 1791 and probably died after 1882 in New York may be the daughter of John and Jane (Dempsey) Fair. Someone was working on this line separate of my own research didn't have a source to share on this information. Margaret Young married David I. Smith both are buried at St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard in Mount Vernon. Sarah possibly born in NYC married Sarah Young married in NYC to a fabric dealer Andrew Barr and they had 3 daughters. I only suspect that Sarah was born in Ireland. I found them in Mount Vernon later. I have no proof that this is my David Smith. Possible connection of David I.
