    3. The National Library of Ireland has put up parish records for free at http://registers.nli.ie/ I have studied this for hours and find that, while not totally all inclusive of the records that are available on film, it is a pretty comprehensive collection. These are the actual digital copies of records, not transcribed. Thus, they take more time to read, but are more accurate. There are aids on the site such as magnification techniques and date sorts to aid your search. I have found this site to be a treasure. Sheila In California

    3. Shelia, Thanks, just found the baptismal record for my wife's great-great grandmother, which verified her parents names. 3. Pat, I guess I am lucky. My 8 Irish great grandparents and my children's grandparents all came from Ireland. My ancestors bet 1849 and 1855 and my children's paternal grandparents bet 1900 and 1914. I have found many of their birth/marriage records on this site. I even have my great grandmother's death record in Aughrim Parish, Galway, in 1892. Pretty rare to find a death record. 3. It's important to remember that these are sacramental records--which means baptism and marriage.  Death is not a sacrament so no records were usually kept tho some parishes kept records for a few years or decades so it's always worth checking.  I did find the death records for one set of my gt gt gt grandparents in Co Westmeath and that was pretty exciting.             Virginia From: Sheila MacAvoy Block via <ny-irish@rootsweb.com> To: Pat Lewis <carmodyp@icloud.com>; ny-irish@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2016 8:27 PM Subject: Re: [NY-IRISH] Irish sacramental records Pat, I guess I am lucky.
