    3. I did some research and found that the Brooklyn Disciplinary Training School for Boys opened in January, 1897. It was at the corner of 18th ave and 57th street, where Gravesend Park is now. The site had formerly been a private home and then a convent school. It was the first non-religious reform school in Brooklyn, and took boys ages 7 to 14. It was closed 6 months for repairs in 1901, then closed for good in 1918. I'm sorry to say that it did not reform my great-grandfather, who was sent there in October, 1897. He was arrested numerous times and died of syphilis at age 36. Anna Caulfield
