Kevin, Yes, the parents names should be on the document. The beauty of a marriage certificate is that the information is typically reported by the individuals themselves so the likelihood of errors is reduced. Lynn
Kevin, I found the marriage of Patrick McArdle to Margaret McCauran in the Grooms Index at www.germangenealogygroup.com (Note: this website is not solely devoted to German genealogy) Go to "Databases" then to "Vital Records Databases" and finally to "New York City Grooms Index" The pertinent record is certificate # 784 - 20 Apr 1917 in Queens Co. NY. There is a link to a printable form to request a copy of the certificate from the Municipal Archives in New York City. I have used this method to get copies myself and it is very reliable and efficient. Good luck, Lynn Carey Grice
Jack, Since you have their death dates you might try the Fulton History site. He has many newspapers from upstate NY town available for browsing. _http://www.fultonhistory.com/_ (http://www.fultonhistory.com/) Jack Langton
I am searching for where my great grandparents John Callahan and Rose (Murphy) Callahan are buried -and birth and death dates for both. I have Census records for 1880, 1900, and 1910 which show John and Rose Callahan and their children living in Cohoes NY. John and Rose were born between 1844 and 1847. John was born in NY State and Rose was born in Ireland. I checked with Calvary and St. Agnes Cemeteries of Cohoes and St. Mary's Cemetery of Waterford NY and did not find them. Can anyone help Where would I look next? Much Thanks, Jack Carr

As many might know, Rootsweb works hard to filter out all the spam mail sent to the lists. Recently they employed a spam filter program called, Sorbs. Lately a number of my emails to various rootsweb lists have been bounced back to me and my mail server sent me the bounce rejection which stated my email address was not accepted by the Sorbs filter. I didn't know others were having the same problem. In my case, I just kept sending the email to the lists till it got through. Today I heard that the posts from the server 'nycap.rr.com' are being rejected by Sorbs. This a familiar server from the Albany/Troy area. So, if you sent any messages to any Rootswebs lists and you are on this server and your messages did not get posted, they probably stopped by the Sorbs filter. As the list admin, there is nothing I can do about the Sorbs filter blockage. However, you can, like I have, write to the Rootsweb Help Desk and let them know about the problem. Hopefully, they will be able to have Sorbs set their filter to let 'nycap.rr.com' mail through. When you go to the Rootsweb Help Desk, go down to where you see the tab, 'Ask a Question' and then fill in the blanks and then your concern. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA, list admin http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

Ray, Let me put in a plug for Holy Cross church at 329 W 42nd St., across from the NYC Port Authority bus depot. Still going strong, it is the oldest building on 42nd St. from the East River to the Hudson. One of it's pastors was Fr. Duffy, of Fighting 69th fame, there is a plaque on the outside wall commemorating him. A bit of a walk from 26th St., but things were different then. Jack Langton
