    1. [HudsonRV] De Vos--looking for streets in Albany in the 1870s & need advice
    2. Hello, If anyone is familiar with the streets of Albany and maybe also North Albany, I would be grateful for your help. I don't know if the streets still exist under the names I have from the City Directories of Albany in the 1870s where I found my De Vos on microfilm. The early directories were on reels at the Library of Michingan in Lansing. I have never been to Albany. I copied an enlarged version of the city map but it is not a very clear copy and probably does not show all the streets anyway. Here are the addresses i am looking for: 51 Sherman 30 Mohawk North near the Canal (I guess that means North Street) 25 North- corner of Washington Ave. 36 Mohawk Where is the canal? Do they mean the Hudson River I wonder? I found some general information but it did not help much--if i could have an area to look in, it would be much more helpful. Here is the general information copied from the Directory of 1874: Washington Ave. goes from Eagle, opposite city hall west to the city line. Sherman goes from Lark to Partridge St. Mohawk goes from Broadway westerly to North Albany (near Pearl St.) North St. goes from 1233 Broadway to the canal, North Albany Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jean Wieland Bails in Michigan

    3. Hi Jean Mohawk & North Streets still exist in No. Albany. I grew up on Genesee St, one block north of Mohawk. There was a De Vos family across the street from us. I don't remember the father's name, but there was a daughter named Sandra. She would probably be about 60 about now. Not much help but at least some info. Joe Duclos
