Hi Loreen, I live in Sacramento and the library is only a light rail away...last time I was there which was about a year ago, they were still available, what they removed, I believe, are the records that were on a cd and for sale, plus I believe Rootsweb had them on line. They didn't have a cut off date like NYS has, so because of the stealing of people's identity problems, the law was passed to protect the living were in the database. I have other research to do in the CA archives which is in close proximity so it won't be a hassle.     3. Hi Pat, I see it pays to read your signature. Or remember what I read before. I would be interested to know what you find. Everything that was on line in December and January was panic. People went to vital records offices to access death records and were turned away, so they said. Now for deaths the California list I get only posts obits, "maiden names deleted per California law".
