    1. [HudsonRV] Rensselaer County naturalizations-part 1
    2. Pat Connors
    3. Today I started transcribing LDS film#1304660, Naturalization Declarations 1853-59, Rensselaer Co NY Justice Court for all those born in Ireland. A typical record has the following information: name, age, county in Ireland of birth, city where person left from, date of arrival in USA, place of residence, date of declaration. Eventually, I will get them on line at the Rensselaer County website but for the present, I am going to begin to post just the name, age and county of birth. I will post them whenever I get time. It should be noted that their residences includes Rensselaer, Albany, Washington and Saratoga Counties, plus I have found some from VT and MA. surname, first name, age, county of birth: Cummings, James, 22, Waterford O'Rourke, Thomas, 22, Offaly Dailey, Carroll, 39, Limerick O'Donnell, Bryan, 27, Limerick Dooley, James, 36, Tipperary Doyle, John, 25, Wicklow Sheety(?), Daniel, 28, Offaly Mahar, Patrick, 26, Tipperary Cleary, Thomas, 36, Tipperary Shelly, John, 20, Tipperary Delaney, Patrick, 21, Tipperary Kennedy, John, 29, Tipperary Farrell, Andrew, 34, Dublin Ryan, Martin, 36, Tipperary Corboy(?), Daniel, 19, Offaly Delahanty, Patrick, 23, Tipperary Graham, Michael, 25, Tipperary Cummings, Thomas, 24, Tipperary Grimes, Joseph, 40, Tipperary Hogan, John, 19, Tipperary Lawler, Thomas, 27, Tipperary Markham, William, 39, Clare Dorsey, Patrick, 24, Tipperary Callahan,, James, 45, Meath Dermady, Phillip, 19, Tipperary It should be noted that all the records are 150 years old and hand written and at time very difficult to read. Those names with (?) means I am guessing. While fairly familiar with Troy Irish names, due to the census work, I still had to guess on a few. Also, there is a form where the clerk fills in the person's name and many times misspelled the surname. If the person signed their own name, I took their spelling and not the clerk's. But is there was an X, then I took the name the clerk wrote even though it didn't look correct to me. If you think one of these are yours, you should check the film for accuracy. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002
