In the 1860 census, Hamptonburgh, Orange Co., Campbell Hall PO area, there's an eight-month-old child whose baptism information I'd like to find. Can anyone tell me which churches would have been in existance in the 1859-60 era in that region? Joy Weaver -- Do good with what thou hast, or it will do thee no good. Joyce, I was interested in your post since I see you are researching GREEN in the northeast. I am doing the same. I just wondered if we might intersect somewhere, although I don't recognize your other names. My ggrandfather was Francis Green. I have not found his family of origin. He came from England. He is in Newark, New Jersey in the 1850 census. This is the earliest I find him. He is single there and in his very early 20s. He married my ggrandmother in 1855. She was from Poughkeepsie. They settled there, had their children there and lived in that area for many years. I am researching the possibility that he had other family members in the same general area. He served in the Civil War. I have obtained NY state Civil War records for several Greens that signed up with him. I am sending for a whole slew of pension records from that war, a few at a time. All of them look like potential relatives. I recently sent for three of them, one was John L. Green. This family eventually ended up in Fairfield, CT. I believe they already had relatives there. If any of this interests you, let me know.
