    2. Would anyone know about Locke, New York. My 3rd ggrandfather, Alvin Clark was born there in 1820 to unknown parents or siblings. According to his obituary he was married in 1843 to Hannah Scoville and he was mostly reared in Scott or Cortland County. Any information at all would be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy Stewart Denton ----- Original Message ----- From: "Timothy Stowell" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, September 20, 2017 11:47:13 AM Subject: [NY-CENTRAL] Fwd: Ever heard of? I have a visitor who is asking the whereabouts of a place name in Chenango County for the 1830s. I told them I've never heard of such anywhere in central New York - but am open to being wrong. This spelling is how they heard it, which is likely not the way it would be spelled, if it exsisted at all - Shyloto Station, Chenango County. Does anyone have thoughts on this? 3. This certainly isn't a place I would have thought of Alvin and Hannah showing up - but it is a marriage record for one of their children in Iowa! https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XJPK-VP5 which now makes sense since he shows up in the Benton county, IA 1860 census - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M82G-VTR I didn't find any matching info for him in the 1850 census - the first census that listed all the family members instead of just the head of household as the previous census reports from 1840 back to 1790 had. That said - https://www.familysearch.org - is a wonderful free resource to do these type searches. 2. Timothy, are you an Alvin Clark researcher? If so which child is your ancestor?. Mine was Maryetta.... always known as Ettie. She married a Jacob Stewart in Dec. 1865. Let me know and maybe we can share some information.
