I am new to this list and this will be my first post. I suspect that Norman B. Simon B. & Eli Lathrop are brothers and sons of Chauncy Lathrop of Victory My elusive Simon B. Lathrop b: 1828 Victory, NY, he died 1862 in Kinston NC in the war. From the package I received on his wife's pension papers his birth is listed as Victory. But no parents are listed. and no exact date of birth. 1820 census has Simon Lathrop listed and I believe that Chauncy was living with him on this census. 1830 census has Simon & Chauncy both living in Victory. I am trying to prove my connection with Chauncy Lathrop(1794/1800? of Victory. Every thing that I have found about Chauncy is that he left Victory early in life and moved to Ohio!!!! where he lived and died. The last thing that I have been able to locate in a time frame for Chauncy is him being postmaster in Victory in 1833. I also located him and wife (Eveline) Joining the Church in 1821 and if I read it right they left the Church in 1833. I also suspect that this Lathrop line might be connected to a Palmer line. It seems every where I check there always seems to be a Palmer family by them. I suspect that Chauncy & his brother Simon might have been born in Onondaga Co. Son: Norman B. Lathrop abt 1821 is living in Litchfield Co, Wolcottville/Torrington CT. in 1850 with his wife Sarah & Eli Lathrop age 19 b: abt 1830/31 . On later census and books, about Norman B. says he is the son of Chauncy Lathrop of Victory NY, this book was printed in 1870, History of Torrington, Litchfield Co. I have not been able to find Simon B. on the 1850 but he does show up in the living in Wolcottville/Torrington in Litchfield, Norman is still located in Litchfield up until the 1880 census. And he states that both of his parents were born in NY. Simon married in 1853 Seymour CT, New Haven county and they had their first child in Illinois, Springfield, Sagamon Co.he was in Illinois for several years but was back in Ct. for the birth of their next child. Any leads on this line would be very much appreciated, I'm at a loss on where else to check. Brenda C. Andrews
