Sandy, New York State has excellent Records New York State Census Records exist for 1825, 1835, 1845, 1855, 1865, 1875, (I'M NOT SURE IF THEY HAD ONE IN 1885 or before 1835) but I have used the one they did after the 1890 USA Census burned up. NYS did one in 1892 to fill in. Also I have used 1905, 1915, 1925. There might be one in 1935. If so, it would be released SOON now because it's 70 years old. Perhaps more children were born in USA - I have the ship they travelled here on, but have not been able to access the shipping list itself to ascertain the number in the family who came here. We would dearly love to find something on Mary, to confirm where she was born and to whom. The ultimate would be to find a connection to the family.
