An infant child died only a few days ago. The cause of death was whooping cough and other children in the family are still sick. The body of the little girl was shipped to Santa Rosa last night for burial. On account of the death of the child of Professor Mitchell, who is principle of the Sparks Schools, the schools will remain closed close on Monday and Tuesday by order of the Trustees. I am only a volunteer, I have no connection to this family.

Two deaths, both of them being the second affliction of the repective families in the last ten days, occurred in Sparks in the last 24 hours, and the members of both families, in addition to the double misfortune, are still fighting against the ailments, croup and whooping cough, which have brought so much misery. Bessie Mae Willis died yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The funeral of Bessie Mae, the nine year old daughter of A A Willis and Elbert S, their three year old son, both of whom died from membraneous croup, occurred. Rev A E Sawin, of the First Baptist Church of Reno, officiated and the internment was in the Mountian Veiw Cemetery. Elbert S Willis died Friday, and his siters death followed in a very few hours, death coming at 5 o’clock yesterday morning. The unfortuate parents are heart broken over the double misfortune, and there are other children of the family sick with the same trouble. I am only a volunteer, I have no connection to this family. Philip Clark who came to Reno three or four months ago, very sick in hopes of finding relief, died at the Lake House yesterday. He was aprominent business man of Genoa, about thirty five years of age, leaves a wife but no children. The remains will be taken in charge by the Odd Fellows, of which fraternity he was a member of good standing, and taken by this morning’s train internment. He has never been able to leave his room since he came here. His death has been daily expected for the past month; in fact San Francisco Physicians had pronounced his case hopeless even before he came here. I am only a volunteer, I have no connection to this family.

Tucson, AR, Nov 24th- L C Hughes, territorial govenor of Arizona from 1893 to 1896 and founder of the Arizona Daily Star of this city, died here tonght of pneumonia after weeks illness, he was seventy-three years of age. Mr Hughes took a prominent part in obtaining government protection for settlers against raids by Apache Indians in the early days. I am only a volunteer, I have no connection to this family.
