After doing genealogy here for over thirty years, I would recommend the LDS library located at 9th and Lewis in downtown Las Vegas. it has great access. For newpaper archives, I would recommend the Las Vegas Clark County Library located at Flamingo Rd and Maryland Parkway. They have newspaper Archives for the Review Journal and Las Vegas Sun. Across the street on Maryland Parkway is UNLV. They have a wonderful reference library. Good Luck and happy hunting!
