Looking for info on great uncle Jacob (Jack) Ernest MITCHELL. Last contact was letter in 1915 from Searchlight, NV. Understand he was in a gunfight and sent to prison because of death of individual. Volunteered in fighting a forest fire and died. Trying to find info about court record, what prison, where forest fire, where buried, etc. Any info concerning him would be greatly appreciated. At time of application, living in Masion City, Washington, Post Office: Osborne, Washington for M.W.A.K. Co. Applied 4 Dec 1936. He died in Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada. I am interested as I have an oval portrait of a pre1900 young lady on the back of which says "W.F. Windom Kansas City, Mo." as if left at a framers. I received the picture from an Iva F. Slaughter Lamb, widow of James Everett Lamb. She lived in Las Vegas until unable to care for herself at which point a niece moved her to Oklahoma. Iva's husband's mother was a Satterfield. Any Bells?
