He came to Virginia City when there was but a group of tenets there. He then resided in Washoe City, watching it grow from a tiny hamlet to be the metropolis and the county seat of Washoe. At that time he was possessed of considerable wealth, but lost heavily in the depreciation of property valuations when the mills were removed to Carson City.
