MACK at the Mineral County Hospital at 3 o'clock last Sunday morning (2 Dec 1928) all Mineral county experiences a sense of destinct personal bereavement and community loss. Conspicuous among the pioneers by reason of his magnificent physique and elegant pose, Johnnie MACK, as he was familiarly known, drew about his standard a practically unanimous entourage of loyal. Loving friends through a wide span of years of devotion and human interest in their individual hopes, ambitious and achievements. Johnnie MACK was a native of California. He came to Nevada near 1870. The last 30 years of his sojourn have been spent in the vicinity of Hawthorne, where his endeavors and interests have been essentially confined to the ranching and cattle industries. It is recalled by an early associate that he was at one time champion buckaroo of the Pacific Coast, which title he successfully held for many years. His prowess with a lariat is a never falling topic of conversation when old timers get together and it is said that his feats with a 70' lasso have rarely been equaled. John T. MACK, at the time of his death is said to have been in his 76th or 77th years. Friends who were with him just the day before were amazed at his physical strength and say that his grip of salutation was that of a vice and the opinion was freely expressed that a man with a grip like Johnnie MACK'S might honestly expect to carry on for many more years. The cause of Mr. MACK'S death is said to have existed in a stoppage of the swallowing ducts, leading to the stomach and that during the last several weeks of his life intense and often excruciating pain was his constant companion endured. However, with the courage and fortitude that have been so dominent throughout his whole career. The funeral of John T. MACK, veteran of the Spanish American War, was conducted from the Knights of Pythias Hall in Hawthorne on Monday (3 Dec) at 2 o'clock. The services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. CULBERSON of Yerington. The casket was draped with the American Flag. The pall bearers consisted of Hayes DONNELLY, Carl W. BLOOM, John H.
